Indubitably , as you have astutely predicted, Big Data and Machine Learning are most likely alternatives for future data analyses.
As the company's accounts are themselves only a summary of millions of individual transactions comprising a further multiplicity of data fields then clearly analysis of those individual data items must help to enhance the understanding of the accounts.
But then we need to ask which accounts and which data fields? I have written about this in the article attached below with specific examples of which accounting transactions would likely benefit from this level of analysis.
And then another question arises: who has access to this data? Outside analysts certainly do not have access to this data. Most insiders do not have access to this data. It can only be those to whom senior management provide access. Typically this will be the company's internal auditors and external auditors.
