Mg- protoporphyrin and Fe- protoporphyrin; two important molecules - one is part of photosynthesis machinery in plants and the other one is a constituent of the RBC, transporting oxygen to different tissues. Can the Fe be replaced with Mg in the protoporphyrin molecule in vivo in human/animal body? If it is possible can the animal cells do photosynthesis and become autotroph?
