Hello. Is there any way we can find the surface area of a roughened surface? Is there a certain constant that we can multiply by the surface roughness to get a measurement of the surface area?
Any non-AFM ideas?

Have you considered BET?

Your sample has to be small enough, and measurements should be done before and after the roughening process to determine the additional surface area generated.
