I am looking for a commercially available immunostimulant that is cost effective and directed at the cellular immune response for use in vaccines containing killed bacterial antigens. Does anyone have any suggestions?
One suggestion would be muramyl dipeptide (MDP). It works well in 10% water-in-oil emulsions with killed bacterins or bacterial antigens. See the literature of Dr. Louis Chedid in Pubmed for background and good reviews on mechanisms of action. MDP (also called adjuvant peptide) is available through Sigma.
