I have two IVs (gender (2 levels), type of crime (3 types/levels) and 1 DV (attitudes measure with Likert Scale). I want to test how attitudes differ towards male/female perpetrators and if different types of crime are viewed as more or less serious (IPV, teacher grooming and Familial child sex abuse). Both IVs are categorical and the DV is ordinal but I don't know what analysis to use. Would ANOVA be acceptable?
I think you are interested to know the effect of gender and type of crime on the attitude. If yes, you can use 2 factor ANOVA. Best of luck!
With 2 factor ANOVA, be sure to look at the interactive effect, before going on to interpreting main effects of gender and type of crime.
