Did you check your trap before? Is it empty? You can also check leaks before changing the pumps.

Yes I did. It is not empty and there are no leaks. I do see red LED on the turbo pump on the analysis side, which seems to confirm something is wrong with it.

Did you try to restart the pump? (Below the analysis dewar).

Check the manual of the TMP what does the red light indicate. TMPs rotate at very high speeds. Sometimes something can go wrong and the rotor totally breaks. That would be worst case and you would have to replace TMP. Could also be something wrong with the controller of the TMP. Read through fully the TMP manual.

You might be able to change it by yourself. Replacing should not be so difficult. But what if you get a new pump and is the controller the broken one, or something else? Always is better going with the vendor, unless you're an expert and don't care about breaking something else.

Hi, Yes I did multiple restarts and we did contact the vendor (the price to replace was a lot). That's why I was trying to find out if there were any instructions available

I think changing the pump is not complicated (was it Pfeiffer or Agilent pump?) but delicate instead. You need to be sure where is the failure: pump, controller, even valve? Then should be possible to directly buy the part you need and replace it.

I would recommend to do it with the qualified and trained Micromeritics service though.
