We have an old Biacore 3000 SPR in our lab that recently started glitching. I run basic maintenance (weekly desorb, monthly sanitize, keeping it on standby, etc) but aside from that it hasn't been used much lately. Recently, when I try to run desorb, the program starts normal but when the sample arm lowers it immediately moves forwards, causing the needle to drag out of position and bend over the racks. The arm gets stuck here and I get a popup saying "Instrument Error code 000:004 Control unit or OS:9 oriented problem. Call your local BIACORE Service representative." I've included a video of this. I can get the needle to return to its home position but restarting the computer and equipment doesn't seem to help. We got the Biacore used and out of warranty so I don't have a service rep to contact and the user manual doesn't have anything about what to do with this. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can try to get this thing working again?
