Can someone help me regarding E. coli JM109 compatibility for Triparental mating?

I tried DH5 alpha and JM109 bacteria for transferring plasmid in to Agrobacterium tumefaciens EHA105 by tri-parental mating. I got a good response in DH5 alpha but not in JM109. Does anyone know why JM109 is not responding?
