Can someone explain reaction mechanism of electroless nickel deposition using hypophosphite as reducing agent in both acidic and alkaline bath?

Reaction of electroless nickel deposition using hypophosphite ion as reducing agent is different in alkaline bath and acidic bath. In acidic bath hypophosphite reacted with H2O, while in alkaline it will react with OH-. Ni2+ ion will form complex Ni ion in both plating bath. The total reaction electroless nickel in acidic bath is already known. I got confused with the reaction in alkaline bath.
