I have faced an equation, an ordinary differential equation (ODE) with two variables Temperature (T) and Time (t). It is an equation which models battery temperature rise after its start of discharging.
I would be grateful if somebody can help me solve this ODE problem via MATLAB, Fortran or any other software that is available.

Hi, in MATLAB you can simply call ode45 to solve a system of ODEs written under the following form: y'=f(t,y) y(t0)=y0 where y has n components.
By calling [T, Y]=ode45(myfun,[t0 tf],y0) where myfun is an auxiliary MATLAB function implementing f, you will obtain on output a discretization of the interval [t0 tf] in vector T and, in matrix Y, the discrete version of each component of y. You can have a look to the corresponding help in MATLAB.
Hi, codes for ordinary differential equations are available in MATLAB for solving ODEs (use ode45).
Dear Yasin, in Mathematica you can use the built-in function NDSolve for numerical solution of ODE like y' = F(t, T, y); there are many Options useful for manage methods and properties of numerical schema. See the following link. If ode is not complicate, using DSolve you can have also an analytical expression of solutions.

Several methods exist to solve ODEs in Matlab.
Firstly, you may make use of built-in functions implementing typical iterative schemes with different orders and accuracies (typical, Runge-Kutta methods).
Secondly, you may implement your own algorithm if built-in functions fail to find a solution because of stiffness-related issues of your ODEs or ODEs system.
A good reference book is:
"Numerical solution of Ordinary Differential Equations" (Atkinson, Han, Stewart).
In this book different schemes are compared with respect to stability, accuracy and convergence speed. Useful built-in Matlab codes are made available in the book.

as many others have said, you can use ode. For systems with inputs (the nonhomogenous case) I find ode awkward. I have implemented my own Runge-Kutta in Matlab. Feel free to use it:

Off the top of my head, if you want source code in FORTRAN, there is SDRIV2, which is pretty old. It may be appropriate for the work you are doing. You should be able to find more recent source code, perhaps on the GAMS site.
