Yeah Dear Mark Perry, i totally agree with you. But what about Box and whisker plot ? whether it could also work just like post-hoc comparisons, if someone select option for 1.96*SEM or Std. dev.

Just looking at BW-plots would not allow to contol any error rate (FWER or FDR).

Indeed, i think BW plot error term shows deviations across error, but not across varience in the factor of interest.
