I am currently doing a study on poly vinyl alcohol - silica (from rice husk) hydrogels. Unfortunately, I cannot use glutaraldehyde as a crosslinker since it has been banned. In connection to this, can sebacic acid, lactic acid and acetic anhydride be used as a crosslinker? Would anybody have an idea on the methodology for this? Thank you very much
acetic anhydride is commenly used for acetylation of amine terminated materials.................
A chemical substance can be used as crosslinker if it is bifunctional or polyfunctional. obviously you can use these as crosslinkers. Before selecting crosslinkers, first check which properties you wish to increase which might depend on type of crosslinkers. I hope it might help you in choosing crosslinker for your work.
