Propidium monoazide is used for differentiation of viable and dead bacteria, protozoa and helminth ova. It penetrates the wall of disrupted cells/eggs and binds with DNA. But for Ascarid eggs the wall is very thick so my doubt is can it penetrate the thick wall of non viable ascarid egg and binds to its DNA or not?
