Bakhtin's theory of polyphony refers to the term "polyphony" as a feature of narrative in which there are multiple voices independent of the author's voice. Since poetry is not based on narration, this term may not apply to poetry. I would argue that since the poet is not always the same as the speaker on some occasions, this could be a sign that poetry could be polyphonic, besides, we do have narrative poetry.
Of course, there are poetic epics, sagas and the like. The longer they are, the more likely they are to have several voices appear in them. The longer, also, the more likely to have variations in metre and tone etc. Different cultures/languages each have their own expectations of what poetry should look like. In English, narrative poems are not uncommon.

From the Book of 'Song of Songs' in the Bible, which Swami Vivekananda read literally and recommended the same to be read only as such, to the reading of Christian theologians, we have ample reading of poetry in polyphonic tones in various languages, of which English is secondary to none. 'The Raven' and 'The Snake' are poems that can be read, understood and appreciated according to the age and knowledge level of the readers. If stories and novels dealing with the rule of tyrants and despots have polyphonic overtones, the poets who felt suffocated under despots and theocratic rules have given vent to their feelings of desperation and suffocation in poems that have polyphonic layers of depth of meaning.
Yes, poetry can be polyphonic. Poetry explores sounds and voices exemplified in lyric and narrative poems. This is even more so in prosaic poetry.
أولا للشعر خصوصية أجناسية تختلف عن الخصوصية الأجناسية للسرد مع قابلية التداخل بينهما (استثمار الشعر للسرد والعكس استثمار السرد للشعر)، ثانيا نظرية باختين موجهة للسرد (الرواية على وجه الخصوص) لأن المناهج الأسلوبية (التي تم اعتمادها لتحليل الرواية ) لم تكن ذات نفع ولم توصل إلى نتيجة لأن الرواية الرواية حسب باختين ظاهرة أسلوبية متعددة الأصوات ( ويجب أن تكون كذلك) في حين أن الشعر أحادي الصوت (في الغالب أو تجاوزا) لأنه يغرق في الذاتية، أما تعدد الألحان واختلاف الإيقاعات التي تكلمتم عنها فهو يرجع للطبيعة الغنائية للشعر وهو ، بمثابة معادل موضوعي لتعدد الأصوات في الجانب السرد
لذلك أعتقد أن نظرية باختين لا تتلائم مع الشعر (نستثني الشعر الذي يستثمر السرد في بنائه)، إذ أن لكل جنس أدبي خصوصية يجب دراستها وفق منظور محدد يتناسب معها.

Chouaib Merouani الحقيقة لم أتطرق إلى تعدد الإيقاعات والألحان بل كان المقصد وجود أصوات سردية داخل القصيدة الواحدة أي أن تحتوي القصيدة على ما يشبه البناء الدرامي و الشخصيات التي يمكن أن تقف كلٌ منها كصوت مستقل يعبر عن أفكار لا تكون افكار الشاعر نفسه بالضرورة
Zahraa Taher Essa أجل فهمت مقصدك وتعدد الإيقاعت جاء في معرض الحديث أما بشأن وجود أصوات سردية داخل القصيدة الواحدة فهذا موجود بالفعل في القصائد التي تستثمر السرد (قصائد ذات بناء سردي، قصائد قصصية أو ملحمية، مسرحيات شعرية...) وهناك العديد من الأمثلة التس يمكن أن نضربها في هذا الباب (شعر لافونتين، قصائد أحمد شوقي الممسرحة...إلخ ففي هذه القصائد نجد شخصيات وحوار وبناء درامي...أي أن هناك تزاوج بين الشعر والسرد وفي مثل هذه النماذج قد نجد ما ذهبت إليه أنت بقولك (أصوات مستقلة لا تكون أفكار الشاعر نفسه) لكن ما استثنيته أنا وما قصدته بخصوصية الجنس الشعري، هو الشعر الغنائي الذي يغرق في الذاتية فهو يحمل صوت الشاعر نفسه ولا مجال فيه للحوارية أو وجود أفكار مغايرة لمما يعتقده الشاعر أو ما يريد أن يعبر عنه
إذن فنظرية باختين حسب وجهة نظري وكتعقيب على ما قلته سابقا، تصلح للسرد وللشعر السردي وللشعر الذي يستثمر السرد لكنها لا تصلح للشعر الغنائي مع التحفظ وابقاء الاحتمال مفتوحا عللا بعض الجوانب التي لا يسمح الوقت بمناقشته الان...

كنت قد قرأت عن اتجاه جديد في الشعر يتبنى فكرة وجود متتالية شعرية يمكن أيضاً أن تتعدد فيها الأصوات، بأن يكون هنالك مجموعة من القصائد التي يكون فيها متكلم مختلف في كل قصيدة ولكنها تكون في سياق مماثل فتصبح مثل المتتالية التي تُقرأ في ترتيب معين

Music is not narrative and can be polyphonic. Most of polyphonic pieces are musical settings of poetry. The question is for me whether the cited definition of polyphony has any meaning when it departs so far from its model.
