For survival of the species. See my lecture on the topic to undergraduate summer fellows which explains the science behind the issue you raise. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLliiebY0VPjh8Oso214jXKu-3TgpUmIOc
Reproduction is essential for the survival of both a human being and a bacterium. All living organisms produce individuals of their own kind for the survival of their species. It is a biological process through which living organisms produce offspring similar to them. Reproduction ensures the continuity of various species on the Earth. In the absence of reproduction, the species will not be able to exist for a long time and may soon get extinct. All living organisms reproduce to maintain continuity of life. Reproduction is a biological process by which living organisms produce new organisms. It is the way by which generations of species continue to live. Without reproduction, the species will go extinct. Reproduction is a biological process through which living organisms produce offspring similar to them. Reproduction is not necessary to maintain the individual organisms, unlike the essential life of individual respiration, or excretion. It is a vital process to ensure that species continue to exist on earth. The absence of reproductive system does not affect the life of a person. Thus, we can live without reproductive system.
Actually the absence of reproductive system does do enormous harm to the health and longevity of women who have been hysterectomized.. as well as when ovariectomy (castration) is added. Please see my scholarly books on this topic for the data.: Hormones and Your Health, Hyserectomy Before and After, etc.
the books on hormones, hysrerectomy and Love Cycles all cite the science showing why absence of women's reproductive source of hormones via castrations inhibits health and longevity in bones, cardio vascular system, cognitive function and more.
