Dear Alessandra:
Don't hesitate to request Hycleus or other meloid specimens from the South African National Collection of Insects (SANC), Pretoria, where I am one of the Coleoptera curators. We only have a modest collection of Meloidae, but it's possible that half of it consists of unidentified Hycleus specimens! No Hycleus type material that I can think of right now (at 02:12 at home), but there may perhaps be some types of Péringuey.
Please note that the SANC is a different and separate insect collection from the Ditsong Museum (ex-Transvaal Museum) (TMSA), also in Pretoria. It is odd that one city would have two separate large beetle collections, but that is a fact and an accident of history. (We've always nicely cooperated, for over a century now.)
You are welcome to contact me at [email protected].
Sleep tight,
Riaan.
