Many NoC based systems have already been manufactured like 48-core Single chip Cloud Computer (SCC) by Intel. These chips are only in-use for academic research and there is no proper operating system (OS) available (each core is running an individual OS). Though heterogeneous NoCs are available but in my opinion, ASIC or some hybrid is a better option for on-chip communications between heterogeneous cores. So, where NoC will go?
