I wanted to know if MERRA 2 reanalysis data is suitable to fill missing observed precipitation data? I have data for several stations for 50 year period, with the missing data being less than 10%, and in some stations even less than 5%. As for the MERRA 2 data, I want to use the NASA POWER website and use the coordinates of the stations I have to get the reanalysis data for that specific location and use the data from that to fill any missing dates. Is this a suitable method?
Also wanted to know for trend analysis using Mann-Kendall, if the missing data is less than 10% can we just ignore the missing values, or do we have to fill them?
And one last thing, can the temperature data from MERRA 2 be used for trend analysis if observed station data is difficult to obtain?
