Please can you elaborate on what you mean by "control". What aspect of the particles do you wish to control? Do you know what the particles are (e.g., ceramic, metal, polymer)? You could also have some heating effect caused by activating the light source that you may have to consider.

Light can of course be used to analyse microparticles. There are many techniques, just to name a few: dynamic light scattering (DLS), UV-vis spectroscopy, localised surface plasmon resonance (LSPR).
