Ir oxides are quite instable (see http://showard.sdsmt.edu/MET320/Handouts/EllinghamDiagrams/Ellingham_v22_Macro.pdf).

So it might even decompose to Ir and O2 when just heated in a vacuum furnace. With the same reasoning it should readily reduce in H2.

Do you have TPR (Temperature Programmed reduction) equipment in your laboratory? This technique would provide you information about the reducibility of your material and what temperature is high enough to reduce the oxide in H2.

Could you please suggest any electro chemical treatment for the reduction IrO2 to Ir as i can not use high temperature it damages the PEEK polymer around it
