Not in all cases, if binding site accommodates diverse set of inhibitors then consequence will be identical ...that is inhibition of protein function.At protein level conformational changes will differ according to inhibitor.Generally binding mode follows a pattern...determined by pharmacophores on protein as well as inhibitors.
I feel it is based on the specific signature (particular residue to interact) for the inhibitor to work on the target (Protein) . and if the binding mode to the inhibitor alter even in single residue it may give different biological outcome.
