Is it feasible to use the trace element data extracted from LA- ICP MS for the foreland basin sedimentary rocks; Sandstone?? I have already extracted the U-Pb ages but unknown about the uses of the element data available from the ICP MS ) e.g.; Si29, Ti49, Y89,Zr90,Nb93,La139,Ce140,Pr141,Nd146,Sm147,Eu153,Gd157 and so on). If you have some papers regarding this type of study then please do suggest me

At first I would like to express my sincere thanks for your interest in my question. Here is the detail procedure of analysis : The experimental work was carried out using Agilent 7500a Inductive coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) attached with a New Wave Research UP193FX Excimer laser. With a 35 µm of the spot diameter, samples were ablated with a repetition rate of 8 Hz at of 8 - 10 J/cm2 energy. The produced ions were carried though a 3 mm PVC tube with the help of helium gas and mixed with high–purity argon gas just before entering ICP-MS torch.
And what about standards and blanks? Which standard did you analyse? How did you correct your data? Did you follow the standard-bracketing method?
I do the same, I use NIST612, Temora2 and 91500. The only thing you have to take care is about the integration times for each element. Normally I have good data for REE and U-Pb acquiring at the same time. For monazite I use 44069 but I have the same results ...
whether you can use the trace element data is up to the used standrads, that is to say, the trace elements data can be applied when the suitble standrads are used. it is better to use both USGS glasses(trace elements std) and Temora2+ 91500 (age std) as bracketing standards.
You can use Belousova's diagrams for magmatic zircons to determine the nature of your detrital zircons.
