Calcium chloride, sodium citrate, sodium sulfate, sodium phosphate and pyrophosphate or other molecules such as amino acids can be used as ionic crosslinking agents for the crosslinking of ionic polymers. Please see the attached document. For hydroxylated polymers, it is possible to have a cross-linking by hydrogen interaction.
