I need to incubate the coagulase test tubes with sheep plasma to test for staph aureus, I dont have a water bath available, can I just leave the tubes in the 37c incubator? Thanks.
But did you find an explanation for that? I am doing something different but my protocol tells me to incubate it at a certain temperature in an oven and then remove it, refresh it and put it on a water bath. Do you have any idea what the reason might be?
My guess is that it relates to heat-transfer. The tubes will likely reach correct temperature faster in the water bath than in the incubator - otherwise it shouldn't really matter I think (assuming the water bath and incubator has the same temperature).
