You can use FTO as a transparent cathode in dye-sensitized solar cells containing graphene. Since platinum as counter electrode is very expensive, graphene-modified FTO and a graphene–conjugated polymer composite film have been used instead, providing performances better than unmodified FTO or bare polymer but still worse than that of platinumcoated FTO.
