Hello all,

I am trying to predict Drag coefficient of an object(and I am not interested in the vortex shedding after my object, also I cant afford LES), so I decided to use steady state simulation. But the problem is that I do not know at which angle of attack my flow will become turbulent. My opinion is that, I use residuals as a predictor of my flow behavior(laminar or turbulent). If both laminar and turbulent simulations converges to 10^-5 so my flow is laminar(since turbulent solver can converge, but it overpredicts results). On the other hand, if turbulent flow reaches 10^-5 but laminar flow dos not converge, I can tell that we have turbulent structures and because of that laminar fails to converge. Am I correct in my approach?

Thanks,

Farzad
