I vacuum distilled my aniline a while ago but now it has a slight yellow tint to it, i want to use it for polymerization. is it still usable? i would distill it again, but my vacuum system needs some repair and i need the polyaniline soon.

no need to distill aniline before polymerisation, there is no difference whatsoever if using aniline as is or distilled one
Yes, it is not required to distill the aniline (if it is yellow) while going for polymerization.
You can use distilled aniline as a colourless liquid. Colour is due to oxidation.Do not use coloured aniline.
You can use slightly yellow aniline depending on the type of reaction. In many cases, impurities do not participate in the reaction and are separable during the work-up step. However, you can be sure of the degree of purity of distilled aniline using analytical methods.
Infact pure aniline is colourless liquid. Aniline with very slight pale yellow colour will not make any great difference, but standard method is to use freshly vacuum distilled aniline.

You may proceed with the aniline you have. Color will hardly make any difference.
It depends on your application.
If you need pure polyaniline with no other signature peaks in FTIR, you have to use distilled one.
If you are working on physical properties like morphology, no need to bother about color of aniline.
sorry, Najathulla, any "wrong" peaks in Polyaniline do not result from yellowish contaminations in Aniline, but from wrong polymerisation conditions and insufficient rinsing, or maybe even from wrong counterion (HCl is the worst)
I Think that it dipends from your porpousal. If u need to avoid any side reaction and/or pure aniline, then you should distill it and maybe store on sieves to avoid the water. At your place I would do polymerization with both anilines and then compare results for the future. If your reaction goes ahead and gives you good results anyway, u can avoid purification, otherwise you need to distill it
U can make the distillation with out vacuum, just based on temp. between, u can polymerize it.
