We have a FLUOstar Omega plate reader with an excitation and an emission filter wheel. There are a couple of types of filters installed, and some are labelled with EMxxx or EXxxx, while others are xxx-10. The user manual says that the xxx-10 filters can be interchanged between excitation and emission filter wheels due to the low bandwidth, however, for a fluorophore I'm planning to use, we have an excitation filter at the perfect wavelength for the emission of the fluorophore. Can I use this excitation filter, even though it's labelled with EXxxx as an emission filter?
