we are fabricating Aperture coupled patch antenna at 15GHZ . Normmally for patch and feed we need to deposit metal thickness of more than 3 skindepths at a particular frequency . so if we use nickel as a patch metal it requires only a thickness of 0.1317 micrometer (3*0.0439micro meter,skin depth of nickel at 15GHz is 0.0439) at 15GHz. This small thickness we can deposit either by sputtering or evaporator. so can we use this metal for patch and feed material in patch antenna ?
Be careful when using nickel..better to be avoided unless really need it as an intermediate layer (and then as thin as possible) for certain coatings e.g. on stainless steel.Nickel has magnetic properties and thus much higher losses than a nonmagnetic metal with the same electrical conductivity.Also nickel is quite bad wrt intermodulation..(when you have Rf contacts)

Nickel can not be a good option for patch or even for feeding because of its thickness. Even though, it is being used the metallic patch normally made of thin copper foil plated with a corrosion resistive metal, such as gold, tin, or nickel. Before using any material, check the every properties of it.

Because nickel has such a thin skin depth (because it is magnetic) it has high current density and therefore high losses. You can use it but it will have high attenuation.
In microstrip it is the conductor at the top of the earth layer and on the bottom of the strip that matters.
I agree with others that the nickel can not be a good option for patch or even for feeding because of its thickness which causes high current density and therefore high losses .
Better try to avoid it. Because you will account more losses due to the high current density. Why don't you do with silver or copper?
