Can i modify my geometry ( including some part ) in between load step and continuing solving again for the rest loadstep?

I need to introduce one additional geometry after the result of a loadstep and continuing solving for the rest loadsteps.

Actually i need to expand my geometry by applying force and mount it on the cylinder. As the diameter of cylinder is more than the horseshoe shape geometry so i can mount only when it expands and make grip when load remove.
