Can I conduct abrasive wear test of nanocomposite coating applied on a steel substrate using the 3 body abrasive equipment ?

Is the 3 body abrasion wear tester recommended only for metal specimen. Can it be used to test polymer nanocomposite coating applied over metal substrates ? The coating thickness would be under 200 micrometer roughly.
