Can BDNF from gut somehow influence the brain? Can you suggest any papers on this topic? Is it rational to think BDNF could go to the brain through blood and surpass liver? Could BDNF alter gut neuronal plexus activity and influence the brain through afferent nerve fibers? Any other ideas?

BDNF expression in the gut influences tight-junction protein expression by epithelial cells, which could indirectly alter small molecule concentrations making it to the brain.
BDNF accumulates in nucleus accumbens during withdrawal as well as from missed exercise..works on HPA-axis... the gut is home of substantial seratonin neurotransmitters..which modulate mood.
