The exposure of 24-48 hours in sodium hypochlorite solution (10-14%) of a mineral fiber, can change the oxidation state of the iron present in that material? (Independently from the crystal structure)
The change in oxidation state depends on the material that is in contact with the solution. Is the issue important for investigators recovering minerals and other inorganic particles from tissues? Of course not. Atem assays will not be effected (not even with very small particles)!!! All other studies may detect changes, especially those determining subtle changes iin surface properties...what are the materials and what is the experiment??? What are the experimental conditions???
