ERP has shown maturity in large business organizations!! Can these learning be taken forward to and bring shared strategies for better performances in development sector organizations like NGOs, producer companies, CSR outfits and also MSMEs? This is a brilliant question and a beautiful thought. Having worked in ERP hands on for few years in a multinational organization and having worked hands on, i strongly feel that, yes, the learning of ERP can very well be applied to developing organizations like NGOs and like.
What is important is the mindset and willingness to explore and change. If this is achievable, definitely ERP can bring in very good benefits to the organizations irrespective it is a manufacturing or service or NGO etc.
As you know in today's context decisions need to be made faster and ERP is the best facilitator for decision making.

ERP may well be the best example of systems based thinking and execution that is currently available. This is not to say that all adopters or purchasers of ERP thinking or software obtain full value from their investments; there are many examples of those who have invested heavily with scarce returns.
Successful implementation of ERP in non-manufacturing environments requires the ability to adopt new attitudes and vocabularies to describe the unsatisfactory state that one hopes to redirect and energize. This is not an insignificant or trivial task as we all tend to defend what is familiar to us and our organizations.

The main aim of ERP is to help in finding solutions in specific enterprises, regardless of its size and characteristics. Several solutions are available, from commercial ones, to purposefully developed based on the specific needs. In any case, it is possible to adjust ERP to your needs. And, the most important are people in an organization.

ERP provides the framework and standardized performance data to allow for meaningfull managerial business improvement assignments, and subsequent measurement of change. Managers still need to manage the business and the system needs to be set up to collect and measure salient business metrics, without undue data collection labor costs. As the managerial adage goes: "you tend to get what you measure, so make sure to measure the right things"
Yes, you can, but it is important that the company's manager, makes use of a Bussines Intelligence - DashBoard, to assist in their decision making.
