Can ELAN perform well for transcribing and analysing long video files (of over one hour)?

I have only seen colleagues using ELAN for analysing multimodality of short clips. Is it equally stable to run very heavy and long videos (usually 1 hour to 1.5 hour)?

Also, anyone uses ELAN for transcription too? I feel it's not as easy as editing transcript on Word document. Thanks for sharing your experience.
