Literature has showed that cetane number (CN) of biodiesel e.g jatroha oil methyl can be calculated by CN =Xme (wt.%)XCNme;
where CN is the cetane number of the biodiesel; Xme is the weight % of each methyl ester and CNme is the cetane number of individual methyl ester..
Can somebody expressed if that of jatroha oil ethyl ester be calculated similarly. In addition, can somebody present cetane number of the following ethyl esters:
Myristic
Palmitic
Palmitoleic
Margaric
Stearic
Oleic
Linoleic
Linolenic
Arachidic
Arachidonic
Behenic
Erucic

WhetherFAME or FAEE, in general, cetane number of biodiesel can be predicted using Kay's mixing law/volume percentage law. Besides that, there are many equations that can be used to predict the CN for FAME. I think, the same should be available for FAEE too.
Yes absolutely, you can calculate the cetane number using that equation and that would close to your experimental value as this is based on mass fraction method. However, there will be still chances of deviation in experimental and theoretical value as sample biodiesel tends to have other molecules apart from esters.
