I am doing research in the Netherlands on motivation for self-development in de field of the social professional. I will try to postulate a social professional as a person who uses his personality (whatever that is) as a professional skill. I would like to receive feedback on my question, maybe even links to relevant articles.
Yes as its definitely the case with the female professional. Those in marketing have to maintain their personal development continuously along with their professional skills. The two complement each other for success.

In the U.S. Military they call that being technically and tactically proficient. If you are not both, you will not do as well.
Debra James is exactly right. The two sets of skills are complimentary. There is no way that improving one cannot but help to improve the other. And improvement, of any type, will only make a person better overall. I am sure your research will find a correlation between the two.
I agree with the opinion that they both complement each other. In fact, I believe that the enhancement of one can contribute positively to the other one.
John Sneed I understand, but isn't science about checking obvouis beliefs? I cannot find much reserach literature on this particular topic.
