Unlike Metarhizium spp..I could'nt find any reference in literature for Microsclarotia production by Beauveria bassiana. Only Blastospores. Thought maybe im missing something.
Research has been conducted to determine the optimal liquid culture conditions in the shake flasks for maximal sporulation in Beauveria bassiana', it was found that produces atleast three distinct single- cell propagules, aerial conidia, and submergered conidia in rich broth liquid cultures and under nutrient limitation conditions in submergered culture respectively. For more details consult Appl. Enviro.Miciobiol. 2005. Sep: 71( 9 ):: 5260 -5266.
There is also another article, published in AMB express in 2014. Its authors are Rieke Lohse, Desiree Jakobs-Schönwandt and Anant V Patel. The name of article is "Screening of liquid media and fermentation of an endophytic Beauveria bassiana strain in a bioreactor". I hope it is helpful for you.
Yes, New Zealand researchers have discovered Beauveria can produce microsclerotia, but in media very different from that used for Metarhizium . See Germination of Beauveria pseudobassiana microsclerotia and biocontrol activity against the African black beetle (Heteronychus arator)
