What is the current work in theoretical field of negative photonic crystal going on recently?
What do you mean by "negative photonic crystal?" Do you mean to say "negative refractive photonic crystal?" If yes, there is not much work happening in this area. There is some interest in superprisms for spectroscopy and filtering for communications. If no, perhaps you are confusing photonic crystal with metamaterials that have negative parameters. Photonic crystals exploit scattering of the wave to produce its effects. Metamaterials are too subwavelength to scatter a wave. The physics between the two is quite different.
Are you taking about inverse photonic crystals, where you infiltrate the voids of the crystal with desire material and remove original template?
First of all thank you both of you to quick reply in this regard. From Negative photonic crystal, I mean the photonic crystal containing negative materials (Single negative (ENG or MNG) and Double negative metamaterial) as periodic part of photonic crystal.
Raymond can you please tell deifference between both two kind of negative photonic crystal (negative refractive photonic crystal and photonic crystal with metametarials with negative parameters).
Some photonic crystals can produce negative refraction without having a negative refractive index. This arises due to the spatial dispersion through the lattice.
The type of photonic crystal you are talking about is composed of regions with positive refractive index and regions with negative refractive index. Negative refraction has little to do with these devices. Usually they are trying to achieve zero thicknes, zero phase, etc.
