I have injected 1,2 dimehylhydrazine (40 mg/kgBW/weekly once) subcutaneously to male wistar rats to develop colon cancer rat model up to 8 doses (followed previously reported articles). I have found there were wounds at the site of injection and it could not develop colon cancer. what might be the reasons for these observations and suggest what i could do more to develop colon cancer.
When you dissolve your DMH in freshly prepared EDTA (1mM), the pH should be acidic. Did you check the pH and adjust to 7 (using NaOH)? If not, that is what is giving the rats those wounds. You may also wish to administer the DMH orally (pH 7). It worked for us.

Pleasev see the published papers on such chemical.How did others avoided such problems,if any? Follow that.
I also ,find once this problem in one animal then i start administering through i.p and i think Mr. mustapha Umar Imam is right please tell your experience again ,i am also working on same protocol
