In recent year number of studies are published in biomedical journals which are related with animal model. I am looking to trial some Ayurvedic Rasayana formulation in aged one in general or a particular disease. Can any one guide us possible biomarkers in general or a particular disease to assess the clinical efficacy of Rasayana drug in aged one.
May I suggest oxidative stress markers? 8-isoprostanes or protein carbonyls content, for example.
In addition to above. May also look for total anti-oxidant capacity in serum and other biological fluids.
eg. I am trying to do work on Amalaki (E.officinalis), which is well known Vyasthapaka ( i.e. arrest aging) drug in Ayurveda. In Clinical set up on which basis we assess the anti-aging effect of Amalaki. What is the appropriate parameters both subjective & objective to assess the therapeutic response of above trial drug.

Oxidative stress seems to me a good objective marker, although we know that the relationship between objective molecular markers and real life not always is very meaningful.
