We are producing about 20 liters of lipids per day ranging from C16 to C24. We would like to rough separations to demonstrate the process can become a source of feed stock for specific lipids.
Sanjiv, I am not familiar with this process, if you could provide a link or reference as Google translates this to WINTERIZATION... i would be greatly appreciated.
Low temperature crystallization works for some mixtures.
What is your lipid mixture? Is it of triglycerides and fatty acids? Also what are the other impurities? Based on your mixture I will try to suggest some method.
Are these saturated or unsaturated fatty acids or a mixture. Here's a link to some melting points which may be beneficial: http://www.tutorhelpdesk.com/homeworkhelp/Biochemistry-/Saturated-Fatty-Acids-Assignment-Help.html
The lipid mixture is composed of compounds ranging from C16 to C24... we are attempting to separate the compounds into sufficient concentrations to demonstrate the economics of the process. This work is supporting a prepilot plant test.
