I suggest halophyt plants (particularly those that produce high biomass) as a cheap and multi-purpose feedstock for biogas production (anaraobic digestion), worth investigating on. There is plenty of salty areas and halophytes in Iran. This is a relatively new idea in this field internationally as well. If this could be coupled with Farid's idea of integration, that would be fantastic.

your idea is an indication of your great knowledge on the herbal coating in coastal areas of Iran. Highly appreciate it and I will promise to investigate its potential source for biogas production. If it works out, we will start a joint project asap. Although the above-aforementioned plant is abundantly available in salty areas, we should perform proximate and ultimate analyses to investigate its potential use as an energy crop or feedstock. To this end, I would be glad if you could share some reference about the various applications of this feedstock.

This book is on Haloculture, written in Farsi. Chapter 2 gives introduction to halophyte plants and chapter 3 about their potential economic uses (including energy and biogas).

Halophytes and biogas is relatively new subject and I am sending you the references that I had.

I should mention that Halophyte flora of Iran is one of the most diverse and richest in the world. You have alot of choices for choosing one, either from coastal salt marshes or even from inland deserts.

I would be very happy and honored to cooperate on a joint project. Thank you for your interest and excellent positive energy.
