I want to use synthetic wastewater with COD of around 300-400 mg/L for my lab-scale anaerobic treatment process. I'll be needed to use about 4 liter of synthetic wastewater to run the system. In different research papers, there are different recipes used for synthetic wastewater and the amount of components that have been mentioned are also for a particular amount of wastewater. Is there any particular way that I can follow to make my synthetic wastewater with the target concentrations? Also, if I know different components then how can I decide which amount of those components will give me the exact target COD value for desired amount of wastewater?
It is common to use the OECD pepton sewage which can be diluted to give the desired COD.
It is best to experimentally determine the COD of the stock solution (page 5 in the text linked) and base the dilution on the result.

We use the formulation on the bottom of Page 6 of OECD 302C with the mineral media and procedures from OECD 302B.
Thanks all for your suggestions. I've got another recipe that has been used in my lab & my professor suggested me to use that. The recipe that I have is mainly used for 12 gallon of water, but I'll conduct my experiment for 4-5 liter. 12 gallon is equivalent to 45.42 L, so to use the same recipe for 4-5 Liter, do I just need to convert the amounts of different components from 45.42 Liter to 4-5 liter?

Synthetic COD will not give you any useful results instead use wastewater available from any existing fa ciliary or similar facility. As explained to Ne ha you can never simulate a wastewater to he of any practical use. Is maybe good to get a degree or printing a paper.
