The garnet like LLZO is prepared mainly through solid state reactions. Can anyone suggest me a method other than solid state method to synthesize LLZO?
One possible route is through sol-gel synthesis of LLZT, followed by controlled (ramp & dwell) pyrolysis to drive off organics, and attain stable oxygen stoichiometry.
The following paper may be useful, and can be requested through Researchgate.
Preparation of Li7La3Zr2O12 Solid Electrolyte via a Sol–Gel Method
LLZO only exhibits satisfactory conductivity when it is well-crystallized and when the grain boundaries are annealed together. Therefore I suspect a high-temperature sintering process is always necessary no matter what precursors you use and how you prepare them. Sure you can try sol-gel, if you think it is different from conventional solid-state reaction.
