I have a problem about trolox standart calibration. In papers it is said that it gives peak in uv-vis region, generally 734 or 725 nm. But i am getting peak about 290 nm. Also, trolox is not soluble in water. I prepared by ethanol. It works well.
Note: For calibration curve trolox is dissolved in ethanol between 50 to 10 ppm. There is not any other thing than trolox and ethanol.

Hello Orkan, could you please cite the references where trolox absorbs at 725 or 734 nm?
As far as I know it is normal that trolox has absorption at 290 nm and an extinction coefficient of 2350 M-1cm-1. For the reference see below:

I am agreee with Maxim Fomin. According chemical formulae trolox contains one aromatic benzene ring with one OH-group (like phenol) that can absorb light in UV-region only. A presence of carboxyl group should allow dissolution in water at pH higher than 6 and ethanol too.
Thank you for your answer. There is a misunderstanding about this subject. Because i am looking for antioxidant capacity as trolox equivalent.While performing the calibration standart must be ABTS or ABTS+? Because while ABTS reacting with potassium persulfate we don't know how much ABTS+ is produced. And how we handle dilution if we don't know the amount. Could you please share a detailed procedure if you have?
