My research paper deals with use conflicts in tourism (such as conflicts over natural ressources, social conflicts due to tourism), and I'm trying to find some articles / books about the creation of these conflicts. I would like to focus on one part on the fact that maybe some conflicts existed before the development of tourism, and tourism made them worst. I am wondering if tourism is not more like the straw that broke the camels back, than the real reason that provoked the emergence of conflicts.
Regarding socio-environmental conflicts/impacts related to tourism activities, you can check out these studies:

Most of the papers regarding this issue are usually focus on environment perspective because of the fact that it is easier to measure it. However, social impacts (which are more difficult to analyze due to its qualitative nature) have been less attention. If you are interested in how tourism and its development can affect to social, economic and environmental perspectives, I recommend you to revise those literature related to tourism planning, specially, Michael Hall (2008). Focus on social conflicts: Dean MacCannell, John Urry, Murphy and Peter Burns. If you need more information, do not hesitate to contact me.

If you are interested in a sociological perspective, check out the works of Richard Krannich, Joan Brehm, and Jessica Ulrich-Shad. Their research deals with this topic. The journal Rural Sociology will be useful.
One of the conflicting areas to this in tourism is inclusiveness particularly in developing countries like India.This is an important area which has to be addressed as it denies a segment of the population in terms of participation in tourism linked activities. The lack of resources coupled with a poor designing denies the access to destinations for a majority of the disabled person's.Currently accessible tourism broadly includes barrier free tourism, adequate transport, differential services, and suitable attractions and targeted marketing for the disabled.The recent destination marketing conference DBM V organised at Macau, in December 2014 had some interesting papers related to this topic of research.
