I would like to get them to make a vocal sound related to a texture. This would have them use their voice to answer the question and I would collect the audio recording to use as research in my paper.

Hello, you may (1) use any available conferencing system which usually has the option to record the session (implies live participation), (2) have them send audio answers to you via whatever service you prefer (less likely), (3) use any of the smart phone chat services such as whatsup or wechat, (4) hotcapture your audio with a soundblaster while you conduct interviews online, (5) offer the video answer option to your question launched on youtube, (6) use an audio survery service. You may use Google Drive Stream. It update on the cloud each time you save and can be accessible either by anyone on a web page or by registered participants. You can create a sharable link to acces audio on any navigator with a player.
