Currently, I am writing a manuscript, but run short of articles stating stunting, wasting, underweight, maternal age, maternal education, family occupation, family income, availability of play materials & ground, mother-child & child-to-child interaction, age of the child and family size as predictors of child development ( personal-social, language, fine and gross motor skills). I used Denver II screening developmental test to measure the developmental outcomes, for children from 3 months to 5 years. For the data analysis, I used step-wise multiple regression.

I recommend the following book, edited by my late father, Dr. Max Hammer, and his colleague Dr. Arthur M. Kaplan (both emeritus university professors of psychology at the University of Maine, and psychotherapists): "The Practice of Psychotherapy with Children" (Homewood, Illinois: The Dorsey Press, 1967; no ISBN listed; Library of Congress number 67-21007). Some of the chapters in this book discuss psychotherapeutic treatment of psychosomatic and behavioral disorders in children, learning impediments, as well as related psychological disorders in children and adolescents.

i suggest you to check out Professors Reuven Feursin and Ale Kozulin's work in Israel; including Professor Pnina klein's work. They did a great deal of work on developmental delays. You will also benefit if you look at the works of Professor Urie Bronfenbrenner. Urie Bronfenbrenner(1917-2005) developed the ecological systems theory to explain how everything in a child and the child’s environment affects how a child grows and develops. He labeled different aspects or levels of the environment that influence children’s development, including the microsystem, the mesosystem, the exosystem, and the macrosystem. The microsystem is the small, immediate environment the child lives in. Children’s microsystems will include any immediate relationships or organizations they interacts with, such as their immediate family or caregivers and their school or daycare. How these groups or organizations interact with the child will have an effect on how the child grows; the more encouraging and nurturing these relationships and places are, the better the child will be able to grow. Furthermore, how a child acts or reacts to these people in the microsystem will affect how they treat her in return. Each child’s special genetic and biologically influenced personality traits, what is known as temperament, end up affecting how others treat them. ........Good Luck

Hi, Denver II is not the best test to asses child development as it is very rough, it misses some developmental delays and should be standardised in Your population. Most accurate evaluation is done by Bayley for babies and toddlers (BINS) and WISC for bigger children. You could use the test, which is fullfilled by the parents: PEDS and Ages and Stages, which is esp. recommended for toddlers about 2 years old for language development + autism.
Because of Your holistic interest, I recommend You to read the articles about the Dunedin cohort in New Zealand, where they have done a lot of studies in one cohort, till the adult age, following their families as well, which is essential for holistic view.

Dear Br. Tina, this is really informative! Yes, Denver II has already been adapted and standardized to the context & population. The good thing about the tool is that it is " easy-to-use" and takes only about 20 minutes for a test moment, unlike Bayley & other developmental tests. Administered properly, It can also screen the 4 domains accurately.
