Thank you for the reference. Although I knew about it I did not know that they had actually Identified 3 ammonites in the food items.
Out interest in the eel predator/ammocoete prey interaction is that we are looking at eels as a possible historical control on sea lamprey abundance in Lakes Ontario and Champlain. DNA results indicated that sea lampreys were native to these lakes but their historic abundance had to be very low even though they had plenty of habitat and food while historic eel abundance was very high.
By the way, it is Interesting that I received a helpful answer from you in Marburg. In the mid to late 1800 I had a number of ancestors who lived/worked in Marburg. They included Prof. Dr. Johann David Busch, a professor at the University of Marburg, Director of the School of Veterinary Medicine, and Director of the Maternity Hospital in Marburg. Prof. Dr. Dietrich Wilhelm Busch, a physician in Marburg and sometimes Director of the Friedrich-Wilhelm University in Berlin, and Prof. Dr. Karl Friedrich Busch.
